Building History
Keryas Hotel, known as Nizam-ul-Islam House, is a historical house in Isfahan that dates back to more than 150 years ago and the Qajar period. In the past, this complex was called the historical house of Majd, and in fact it is the old house of Nizam-ul-Islam, which has a very beautiful architecture of Isfahan.
The building of Nizam-ul-Islam dates back to 150 years ago, ie the end of the Qajar period, and was registered in the list of national monuments of Iran in September 2011.
The main owner of this building was Nizamul Islam Mirza Mohammad, nicknamed Mirza Mohammad Moallem, who played a decisive role in the middle of the Qajar period and in the constitutionalist movements of Isfahan, and now the tomb of this noble man is in Kazeruni.
This house belonged to Mirza Mohammad Dastjerdi, a cleric-political figure and one of the leaders of the constitutional movement during the Qajar period, and was considered the base of socio-political activities during the constitutional period in Isfahan. This house is a relic of Qajar period architecture, which was built in a very simple way and there is no trace of painting, mirror work and other decorations except for a few small items.
His first son is Majdat al-Islam, to whom the house is inherited.
This building is registered in the heritage as Majd al-Ulama, while Majd al-Ulama is the title of the son of Mr. Najafi, the brother of Mr. Noorullah, the owner of the Constitutional House, which was mistakenly registered as Majd al-Ulama instead of Majdal al-Islam.
sed by the locals.
Majd House has been registered in the list of national monuments on 6/18/91.
Nizam al-Islam House was one of the main bases of the constitutionalists at that time.
This house is about 150 years old, more commonly known as the historic house of Majd.
This historic house is located right near the Abbasi Grand Mosque on Governor Street.
The house starts in the style of all Qajar buildings with a porch.
The vestibule has three paths.
One of the paths leads to the upper floor, the other leads to the courtyard of the mansion and the other path leads to the warehouse and food supply.
Upon entering the courtyard, you will see a two-story building that is formed around the courtyard.
A relatively large rectangular pond is also located in the center of the courtyard.
What catches your eye the most is the large number of doors and windows.
The first floor is called the pool house, which was used by the locals.
This house, after complete renovation, started its activities in Nowruz in 1397 as the traditional residence of Kryas. Kryas Residence in Isfahan has 15 rooms that surround the courtyard on the ground and first floors.
In terms of location, this complex is located near the Abbasi Grand Mosque, Naghsh Jahan Square and Aali Qapo.
A space with a pond in the middle and rooms around it that in the hot weather of Isfahan slightly reduces the warmth of the air.
Rooms with wooden furniture, a wonderful color combination of white and turquoise fabrics and traditional kilims that warm the environment.
Five-door, three-door and two-door rooms can be seen on this floor. The second floor of the mansion includes 5-door, 3-door rooms as well as the royal room and has been used to receive guests.
In the porch of this floor, there are some simple plastered columns and a little bit of decorations such as mirror work have been used.
This building is not very decorated, but it has a very beautiful view.
The beautiful dome of Shah Abbas Mosque stands out in a corner of this square.
Also behind the Sulaimaniyah school and the colorful charm of the doorway, among the clay and mud walls of the compound, it attracts so much attention that the subconscious of the pedestrians who have come to explore the square, want to touch this wall and walk the path ahead.
As you walk along the cobblestone path to the hotel entrance, there is a beautiful view of the white corridor. This eagerness to walk through this corridor distracts the viewer from paying attention to the two adjoining rooms at the entrance. Along the way, another beauty suddenly takes over; An old staircase, in a foyer surrounded by a kitchen and a room attached to the entrance hall. The pool of water between this foyer and the geranium vases around it is the best image that can satisfy you from being in this place.
Nizam al-Islam House is now being used as a traditional four-star hotel after a major renovation. The traditional Keryas Hotel is a 15-room hotel with good accommodation facilities. One of the advantages of this hotel is its proximity to Naghsh Jahan Square and its numerous historical monuments.
